Ventral Medial Nucleus Of Hypothalamus

In all cases, regardless of the level of the injections, terminal fibers were consistently distributed in three main locations: the submedial nucleus; the ventral aspect of the basal ventral medial nucleus and ventral posterior nuclei; and, the dorsomedial aspect of the ventral posterior medial nucleus.

Although Fos was induced by mating in several regions, this response was only dimorphic in the ventral medial nucleus of the hypothalamus (VMN), where mating significantly increased Fos-ir in females, but not in males.

Progesterone's (P) actions on both the ventral medial nucleus of the hypothalamus (VMH) and the ventral tegmental area (VTA) are essential for sexual receptivity in female hamsters.

Progestogenic stimulation of both the ventral medial nucleus of the hypothalamus (VMH) and the ventral tegmental area (VTA) within the midbrain is critical for normal receptivity in female hamsters.

This morbid obesity appears to be due to sarcoid invasion of the satiety center in the ventral medial nucleus of the hypothalamus.

The LHRH contents of the infundibular nucleus-median eminence, ventral medial nucleus, and lateral hypothalamus were significantly lower in castrated males (P less than 0.05).

No differences were found in tissue immediately adjacent to these nuclear regions or within other brain regions including the ventral medial nucleus and suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus.

An accumulation of radioactivity was found in the ventral medial nucleus and in the ventromedial part of the ventral anterior nucleus. The present findings indicate that the ventral medial nucleus is the principal site of termination of nigrothalamic projections in the cat..
